Set against the stifling conformityof pre World War 1 English society, EM Forsters Maurice is a story of coming toterms with one`s sexuality and identityin the face of disapproval and misunder-standing. Maurice Hall and Clive Durham find themselvesfalling in love at Cambridge. In a time when homosexualityis punishable by imprisonment, the two must keep their feelings for one anothera complete secret. After a friend is arrested and disgraced for the unspeaka-ble vice of the Greeks, Clive abandons his forbidden love and marries a young woman. Maurice,however, struggles with his identity and self confidence seekigthe help of a hypnotist to rid himself of his undeniable urges.
