Persistence pays off for country boy Guei when he lands a coveted job as a bicycle messenger on the teeming streetsof Beijing. The silver mountain bike henow rides will be his- once he earns 600yuan. But just as he makes his final payment, the bicycle is stolen! On the other side of town, Beijingschoolboy Jian longs for a bicycly so hecan ride around with his girlfriend Qin.Tired of banking on his father`s empty promises, he steals a sum of money andbuys a used bicycle- the bicycle that once belonged to Guei. After endlesssearching, Guei finally tracks down his bicycle- but there arecomplications. A tug-of-war breaks out with Jian. Then, they try working out a compromise.
