The beautiful, recently widowed Freya returns home to her remote fishing village in post-WWII Iceland after living in America as an officer`s wife.Freya moves to the small house of distant relatives and turns their lives upside down. With her long chestnut brown hair, slender figure, and chicAmerican fashions, she is somewhat of a mystery to the women ofthe household, including inquisitive eleven-year-old Agga, and even more so to the men of thecommunity. But as Agga soon notices, strange things have been happening sinceFreya`s return.Women are asserting their independence and men aremysteriously keeling over. Is Freya a murderess? A goddess oflove?
