Harold Crick is a lonely IRS agent whosemundane existence is transformed when hehears a mysterious voice narrating his life. With the help of Professor JulesHilbert, Harold discovers he`s the main character in a novel inprogress and that the voice belongs to Karen Eiffel, an eccentric author famous for killingher main characters in creativeways.
