Kleenex Required! I hate Nicholas Sparks as a writer, his fiction makes me gag. His fiction as film fares little better.
The Notebook was okay on the first viewing but became increasingly cheesy when I tried to watch it again. I barely got through Nights in Rodanthe.
So naturally I was reticent about watching Dear John. However I got wrapped up in this story, despite the fact that its sentimental and melodramatic (aka gross).
Left Me Screaming...and Not With Laughter Case in point: Simon is being forced to literally kiss a junkie`s a** and he ends up throwing up all over the person.
I didn`t finish it.
Fantastic Wes Anderson Family Comedy I loved this movie (and every other Anderson movie out there)!
It`s visually interesting and the dynamic between the competitive and suspicious brothers is hilarious to watch. For instance, when they visit a temple and sit down to pray, one brother asks the other, "Is that my belt you have on?"
It`s in their petty egotism that real life family humor (drama) is showcased brilliantly.
